Wind Project in Sandl Scaled Down to Protect Lynxes
A wind power project in Sandl, Upper Austria, has been scaled down due to the presence of lynxes in the region. Originally planned for 22 turbines, the project will now feature 19, making it the largest and most important wind power project in Upper Austria.
The project faced challenges when lynxes were found in the area, leading to a reduction in the number of planned turbines. This decision was made to minimise potential harm to the lynx population. The project's scale-down comes after a hunter, whose name remains unknown, mistakenly shot three lynxes while attempting to kill a wolf in the same region.
Despite the reduction in size, the Sandl project remains a significant investment in renewable energy for Upper Austria. The scaled-down project aims to balance environmental concerns with the need for clean energy.
