Galata Wind Expands European Renewable Energy Portfolio

Galata Wind, a subsidiary of Turkish Dogan Holding, has announced the acquisition of two solar power projects in Germany and two photovoltaic projects in Italy. This strategic move will increase the company's European renewable energy capacity to 92 megawatts (MW) by 2026.

The two solar power projects in Germany, located in Bavaria, add 21 MW of installed capacity, expected to be operational in 2026. These projects will be structured as Agri-PV systems, combining agricultural land use with solar electricity generation. Galata Wind's total target capacity in Germany will rise to 83 MW, which includes 43 MW from agricultural photovoltaic installations (Agri-PV) and 40 MW from battery storage.

In Italy, Galata Wind has purchased shares in two project companies, Montescaglioso 1 S.r.l. and Ferrandina 14 S.r.l., through its local subsidiary, Solevento Investments S.R.L. The Italian projects, located in the southern Puglia region, have a combined installed capacity of 9 MW and construction-ready permits. They are scheduled to come online in 2026.

The new projects in both Germany and Italy will include standalone battery storage units to optimize energy delivery to the grid. This strategy aligns with Galata Wind's broader goal to reach 300 MW in international renewable capacity between 2025 and 2027.

Galata Wind's CEO, Burak Kuyan, stated that the new agreements mark a strategic advancement in the company's global expansion. The company is also evaluating participation in Italy's FERX program, a national auction mechanism designed to support renewable energy development.

With the completion of the German and Italian deals, Galata Wind's total installed capacity in Europe is set to reach 52 MW from solar PV and 40 MW from battery storage. The company aims to operate a European renewable energy portfolio with 92 MW capacity combining solar PV and battery storage, enhancing its presence in Germany and Italy and supporting sustainable, low-emission energy generation across key European markets.
