Weil am Rhein's Velospot to Carry On Its Activities
In the picturesque tri-border region of Germany, France, and Switzerland, the Velospot bike-sharing system continues to facilitate seamless cross-border cycling. The service, provided by the Basel-based company Velospot, has been successful for two years and will now be extended for another two years, with both Weil am Rhein (Germany) and Hüningen (now part of Huningue, France) participating in the partnership.
The bike rental stations are strategically located near the border in both countries, making it easy for cyclists to rent and return bikes across the border. Currently, Velospot operates 16 bikes and e-bikes permanently at the stations near the border in Germany and France. In the Greater Basel area alone, there are over 300 stations for bike rental and return.
One of the key locations for the Velospot system is the Rheinpark, symbolising cross-border mobility. The bike rental station at the Three-Country Bridge in Weil am Rhein will continue to operate for another two years, while the bike rental station at the Vitra Design Museum, a new addition to the service, will remain operational as well.
Mayor Diana Stöcker emphasises the trinational character of the region, praising the Velospot service for its role in promoting cross-border mobility. She states, "The Velospot bike rental service has been a great success in our region, and we are delighted to extend our partnership for another two years."
The bike rental service includes both regular bikes and e-bikes, catering to a wide range of cyclists. For precise and up-to-date details on how the Velospot system works at the Three-Country Bridge and the exact count of stations, it would be best to consult Velospot's official resources or regional transport authorities directly.
In the Velospot bike-sharing system, strategic locations for bike rental and return include the border between Germany and France, such as the Three-Country Bridge in Weil am Rhein and the Vitra Design Museum. The service, expanding for another two years, integrates both industry (Velospot company) and finance (investment in bike rental service) with public-transit (cross-border cycling) and transportation (bikes and e-bikes provided).
