Water Protection Police of Bremen engage in numerous operations
In Bremen on Thursday, the Bremen Water Police responded to a series of incidents in the harbour area and on the Weser.
Preliminary investigations suggest a navigation error in the collision incident at the Lemwerder ferry landing, where an inland ship collided with a slipway of a local shipyard, causing minor property damage but no injuries. An administrative offense was initiated against the responsible ship's captain in this incident.
In a separate incident at the Martinianleger, another inland ship collided with the stern of a ship during docking in the afternoon, causing damage to both vessels but no injuries. An administrative offense report was also filed against the ship's captain in this incident.
An oil-like substance polluted approximately 600 square meters of water in the grain harbour area, but the origin of the water pollution remains unknown. The Bremen fire department deployed oil barriers and absorbed the pollution to minimise the impact.
The water authority was present at the scene, and investigations into all three incidents are ongoing. The Bremen Water Police were also involved in the response to the incidents.
No further details about the origin of the water pollution are provided at this time. The location of the incidents was in the harbour area and on the Weser in Bremen.
