New Electric SUVs on the Horizon: VinFast VF7 and VF6 to Make a Splash in India

India's automotive market is about to witness the arrival of two new electric SUVs from Vietnamese automaker VinFast. The upcoming models, the VF7 and VF6, are set to challenge the dominance of existing electric vehicles in the country.

The VinFast VF7, priced around ₹50-65 lakh (ex-showroom), will square off against premium electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX1 LWB, and BYD Sealion 7. This premium midsize EV boasts a 70.8 kWh battery and is laden with high-end features such as a 12.9-inch infotainment system and Head-Up Display (HUD).

On the other hand, the smaller VF6 is expected to start at approximately ₹25-30 lakh (ex-showroom) and may reach up to ₹45 lakh for higher variants. Positioned in the compact electric SUV segment, the VF6 will compete with models such as the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6. The VF6 comes with a 59.6 kWh battery, front-wheel drive, and power figures around 177-201 PS.

Key Features of the VinFast VF7 and VF6

The VF7 will be available in three distinct variants: Earth, Wind, and Sky. The top-spec AWD version of the VF7 delivers up to 354 PS and 500 Nm, with a claimed range of 496 km (NEDC) and 0-100 kmph in 5.8 seconds. Safety and technology features of both models are expected to be similar, including Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) functionality, numerous airbags, and a 360-degree camera system.

The compact VF6 will be launched in two trims: Earth and Wind. It will accelerate 0-100 kmph in 9 seconds and has an electronically restricted top speed of 175 kmph. The VF6 is equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a single front-mounted electric motor.

The VF7 is powered by a 70.8 kWh battery, available with either a single or dual motor layout. The Earth variant will have a monotone black cabin, while the Wind and Sky variants will have a dual-tone Mocha Brown and Black cabin theme. The VF6 produces up to 201 PS and 310 Nm.
