Vehicles, around 150 in number, impounded due to lack of valid driving authorization
In a bold move to combat illegal transport of persons and luggage, over 400 inspections were carried out in cities and districts of the Krasnodar Territory from June to August 2024. Despite the absence of explicitly named organisations in the search results, the efforts were spearheaded by representatives from Rostransnadzor, internal affairs organs, working groups in municipalities, and the regional Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure.
Alexei Smaglyuk, Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Krasnodar Territory, made these statements, emphasising the seriousness of the issue. The crackdown aims to curb the activities of individual entrepreneurs and legal entities offering illegal transportation, who will face fines of 400,000 rubles.
The illegal carriers often utilise illegitimate platforms for finding passengers, relying on websites, apps for booking and ticketing, as well as ordering a light taxi. These platforms, along with information resources and services that distribute information about illegal transportation, also bear administrative responsibility and will be fined 400,000 rubles.
During these inspections, a significant number of vehicles were seized. In the summer period of 2021, 146 vehicles were confiscated, while in the same period of 2024, 89 vehicles of illegal carriers were taken off the road. A total of 146 vehicles were seized and arrested during these inspections.
In addition to the vehicle seizures, 231 administrative offense protocols were drawn up. Drivers offering regular passenger transportation under the guise of a light taxi on their own routes will be fined 50,000 rubles. The focus of these inspections is on vehicles with up to eight seats.
The crackdown on illegal transportation in the Krasnodar Territory is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and security of its residents and visitors. The authorities continue to work diligently to maintain law and order on the region's roads.
