However, there's a silver lining with "RRB-online BYN + 5 month Capitalization" and "RRB-online BYN + 5 month Interest on Account"** - those rates have upticked by 3.5 percentage points, sitting pretty at 11.5% per year!

The Almighty Alfa Bank:

Looks like these cats have restructured their "Alfa Safe" deposit in the nation's currency:

  • They've scraped the 6-month term with a 6% annual interest rate and swapped it for a 13-month term with a shiny new rate of 7% per year;
  • The minimum deposit amount has jacked up from 50 to a more substantial 200 Belarusian rubles;
  • The maximum amount got trimmed from 2 million to a more manageable 20,000 Belarusian rubles. Neat additions include a non-dwindling balance of 200 Belarusian rubles and the option to top up any amount during the first 12 months.

Why?ok, so you might wonder what's goin' on. Global forces, regional comparisons, and local economics all play a part, but to get the nitty-gritty specifics, you'd best check with the banks or local financial news sources.
