University of Bayreuth's Construction Schedule: New Bus Schedule Effector Starting Tomorrow
The University of Bayreuth is set to undergo a significant expansion with the commencement of the North-East Campus Development project, scheduled to begin on July 9, 2025[1][2]. This construction work, which is expected to last approximately two years, will bring changes to the campus infrastructure, including alterations to public transport routes.
In light of the upcoming construction, the city's public transport company has developed a joint diversion concept for bus traffic during the construction period[3]. This diversion will remain valid throughout the entire construction period, regardless of the changing construction phases[4].
One of the key changes will be the new central meeting point for all lines on campus, which will be the "Uni-Administration" stop[5]. Line 304 will now end at this stop, with its own stop area in front of the Institute of Informatics[6]. Line 310 will also serve the "Uni-Administration" stop, as well as Universitätsstraße in the direction of Wolfsbach[7]. Temporary stops for Central Technology and the Tappert dormitories will be set up on Universitätsstraße, near the dormitories[8].
Line 326 will additionally serve the Universitätsstraße and Hohlmühle roundabout (south of the Botanical Garden) stops[9]. Short-term deviations may still occur on individual days when construction sections are changed[4]. It is advisable for passengers to regularly check for updates on the company's website, the VGN app, or at the stops[10].
However, it's worth noting that the "Mensa" bus stop will be discontinued for all lines[11]. Passengers are encouraged to check for updates from the university or city transport authorities for further details as the construction start date approaches.
The construction work will result in varying road closures within the campus area[12]. The public transport company apologizes for any inconvenience caused and recommends that passengers regularly check for updates to ensure a smooth journey during the construction period.
For precise and detailed updates on bus traffic and route changes related to the 2025 campus construction, it is recommended to consult the official University of Bayreuth website or their campus transportation office closer to the construction start date. Local public transportation providers such as the Bayreuth bus services who typically publish route changes or detours during major construction works should also be consulted.

In light of the construction project, the finance department of the city is collaborating with the public transport company to ensure that operating costs for the proposed bus reroutes are covered. Additionally, the industrial sector has been engaged to provide temporary transportation solutions within the campus during the two-year construction period, especially for those parts affected by road closures.
