United Arab Emirates discloses petrol costs: Estimated cost for a full fuel tank in July 2025
In a recent announcement, the UAE Fuel Prices Monitoring Committee has revealed an increase in fuel prices for July 2025, following a surge in global oil prices. The new prices will come into effect from July 1.
The increase in fuel prices is reflected across all petrol grades, with Super 98, Special 95, and E-Plus fuels seeing a rise in their respective prices. Here's a breakdown of the new prices:
- Super 98 petrol will now cost Dh2.70 per litre, up from Dh2.58 in June. - Special 95 petrol will rise to Dh2.58 per litre, compared to Dh2.47 in June. - E-Plus petrol will cost Dh2.51 per litre, up from Dh2.39. - Diesel prices will increase to Dh2.63 per litre, from Dh2.45 previously.
The average fuel tank capacity for compact cars is 51 litres, meaning a full tank of Special 95 fuel will cost Dh131.58 in July, compared to Dh125.97 in June. For SUVs, with an average fuel tank capacity of 74 litres, a full tank of Special 95 fuel will cost Dh190.92, compared to Dh182.78 in June. Sedans, with an average fuel tank capacity of 62 litres, will see a full tank of Special 95 fuel cost Dh159.96, compared to Dh153.14 in June.
The upward adjustment in fuel prices is a response to the oil price rally that occurred through most of June, driven by various geopolitical factors such as the conflict between Israel and Iran and US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. However, a subsequent sharp 13% plunge in oil prices following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran has eased fears of supply disruptions from the Middle East, a crucial oil-producing region supplying about a third of the world's oil.
The price hike will directly impact motorists' budgets, especially during the summer travel season when transportation demand is higher. Nevertheless, there is cautious optimism that prices may stabilize or even decline in the coming months due to falling global oil prices and easing regional geopolitical tensions.
The approved fuel prices for July are determined by the average global price of oil and the operating costs of distribution companies. The new prices have been announced on June 30.
Getting a full tank of petrol in July will cost a bit more than in June, depending on the type of vehicle. For example, a full tank of E-Plus 91 fuel for a compact car will cost Dh128.01, compared to Dh121.89 in June, while a full tank of Super 98 fuel for an SUV will cost Dh199.8, compared to Dh190.92 in June.
