Unifying Agricultural Efforts: Rostislav Goldstein Convenes Industry Players to Devise a Collective Course of Action

In a recent strategic session, federal experts gathered to discuss the future of agriculture in Komi, Russia. The aim is to leverage scientific achievements and innovations in agrarian science to improve productivity, crop quality, and resilience, aligning with Russia's broader initiative to enhance food security and strengthen domestic agricultural capacities.

One of the key aspects of the proposed strategy is the adoption of new crop varieties. For instance, winter wheat with enhanced frost resistance, drought resistance, and disease resistance, while maintaining high yield and quality standards, could significantly benefit Komi's agricultural sector.

Another crucial component is the integration with domestic and international cooperation. Russia aims to position itself as a guarantor of global food stability by building sustainable alliances, including participation in BRICS and cooperation with the Global South. These partnerships could facilitate technology exchange, logistics, and market access for Komi’s agricultural products.

The Russian Agricultural Bank and Ministry of Agriculture also emphasize agribusiness transformation through innovative practices, financial support, and showcasing achievements in sectors like dairy, poultry, and greenhouses.

Although specific detailed plans for Komi’s agriculture development from the session with federal experts are not fully outlined, it is clear that Komi is part of a wider national framework aiming to boost productivity, sustainability, and technological advancement in agriculture through scientific research, strategic partnerships, and focused investments.

Farmers in Komi have proposed their own solutions to address staffing issues, suggesting a seamless training system, expanded state support, a program to revive the countryside, and a regional trade network.

The acting head of the session encouraged participants to "Free your mind," advocating for products that don't require subsidies and are highly profitable. Additionally, there is a call for modernising rural life, recognising that agriculture and rural life are not interchangeable today but are integral parts with modern agriculture requiring a high level of education.

With these discussions and proposals, the future of agriculture in Komi, Russia, is set to be marked by innovation, collaboration, and a focus on quality and profitability.
