In a strategic move to enhance service quality for clients and explore new business opportunities, Bishop Street Underwriters, a private investment firm-backed company, has announced the acquisition of Aerospace Insurance Managers (AIM). This acquisition marks Bishop Street's entry into the aviation insurance market, specifically focusing on general aviation services.

Based in the United States, AIM provides insurance coverage for aircraft hull, aircraft and airport liability, catering to small aircraft owners, hangar owners, fixed base operators, private and municipal airports, flight schools, and charter operators across 47 states.

The 16-person team at AIM, led by Sean Kelley and Randy Kasen, will continue to offer A+ rated coverage under Bishop Street's umbrella. This integration is expected to allow AIM to enhance its service quality and expand its business reach, leveraging the resources and commitment to profitability offered by Bishop Street.

The acquisition is one of several strategic developments for Bishop Street, which includes the acquisitions of Landmark Underwriting, Ethos Specialty's Transactional Liability unit, Conifer Insurance Services, and Ahoy!, among others. The financial terms of the deal between Bishop Street and Hallmark Financial were not disclosed.

The acquisition of AIM is subject to regulatory approval in the United Kingdom. McDermott Will & Emery LLP provided legal counsel to Bishop Street, while Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP provided legal counsel to Hallmark.

Bishop Street Underwriters, a RedBird Capital Partners portfolio company, aims to strengthen its differentiated managing general agent (MGA) platform through this strategic move. By expanding into specialized insurance sectors like general aviation, Bishop Street aims to offer a wider range of client solutions and deepen its involvement in niche markets.

This move complements Bishop Street's existing portfolio and enhances its capabilities as a specialized insurance provider. The company's recent acquisitions and partnerships, such as the investment in Verve Services, the establishment of partnerships with Skyward Specialty Insurance and Topsail Re, demonstrate its commitment to growth and expansion in the insurance sector.
