Ukraine Strikes Key Russian Oil Refinery, Military Targets
Ukrainian forces have struck multiple high-value Russian targets in a series of overnight attacks. Among the hit facilities was the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in the Orenburg region, one of Russia's largest with an annual processing capacity of 18.4 million tons of crude oil.
The strikes, announced by the Ukrainian General Staff on October 4, 2025, also targeted a large ammunition factory in the Sverdlovsk region, an oil terminal in Crimea, and a weapons depot. The command post of Russia's 8th Army in Donetsk was hit, and a Buyan-M class missile ship near Lake Onega sustained damage. Additionally, a Garmon radar complex and a transport-loading vehicle from the Iskander missile system in the Kursk region were successfully targeted. The Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery in Kirishi, Leningrad region, was also hit, with explosions and fires reported.
Ukrainian forces are systematically targeting Russian military infrastructure to degrade its military and economic potential. The Orsknefteorgsintez refinery, with an annual processing capacity of 6.6 million tons of crude and producing fuel for Russia's domestic supply chain, is a significant loss for Russia's energy sector.
These coordinated strikes demonstrate Ukraine's commitment to targeting Russian military and industrial infrastructure. The Orsknefteorgsintez refinery's destruction will impact Russia's domestic fuel supply, further straining its resources.
