Transportation disruption: Closure of Engelberg tunnel along the A81 highway
The Federal Highway Authority has announced that the Engelberg Tunnel on the A81 motorway near Leonberg (district of Böblingen) will be closed in both directions tonight due to scheduled maintenance on traffic equipment.
The closure will take place from Saturday at 11:00 PM and will last until Sunday at 10:00 AM. During this time, traffic will be diverted.
Drivers wishing to join the motorway at the Leonberg-Ost interchange should use the detour to the Leonberg-West interchange. Traffic from Karlsruhe to Heilbronn will be diverted at the Leonberg-West interchange, while those coming from Munich to Heilbronn will be rerouted via the Leonberg-Ost and Leonberg-West exits.
Individual lanes will be affected from 9:30 PM, and there is a detour from the Stuttgart-Feuerbach interchange to the Leonberg-West interchange available for drivers.
The closure will affect traffic on the A81 motorway, and it is advised that drivers plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays. The authorities responsible for setting detours during the closure of the Engelberg Tunnel on the A81 are typically the regional traffic management centres and the highway police of the state where the tunnel is located, in coordination with the federal motorway authority in Germany.
Motorists are reminded to drive safely and follow the signs and instructions provided by the authorities during the closure. It is important to note that the closure is necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the motorway in the long run.
