Trains on LGV North line withdrawn following electrical mishap; services partially restored at 6 PM
Power Outage Causes Major Disruptions on High-Speed LGV North Line
A power outage in the Moussy area, Val d'Oise department, has disrupted the high-speed LGV North line, causing the cancellation of at least 17 Eurostar trains scheduled for travel between Paris, London, Brussels, and Amsterdam on Monday, 4th August 2025.
The electrical incident led to a failure in the electrical supply system powering the catenary (overhead wires) on the line, resulting in significant traffic disruptions and delays.
SNCF teams have implemented detour routes via the classic line to manage the situation. A partial resumption of traffic is expected from 6 pm, on a single track. Further work will be done this night to resume traffic on both tracks as early as Tuesday morning.
SNCF Réseau is on site to finalize the diagnosis and carry out repairs. Delays on the affected trains were up to two hours. At 4 pm, SNCF Réseau was unable to indicate the total number of affected trains.
The incident has affected not just SNCF TGV traffic but also Eurostar trains connecting London, Brussels, and Amsterdam, with cancellations and re-routing due to the power failure.
Travelers are advised to postpone their journey if possible. However, they can request a refund or exchange their ticket without charge. Teams are present in the stations to inform travelers about the situation and the available options.
The Gare TGV Haute Picardie will not be served all day on Monday.
It's important to note that this is not the first time electrical installations have been targeted on related lines. Earlier disruptions were caused by arson attacks, but the current incident is mainly described as a power outage rather than sabotage.
SNCF Réseau is working diligently to resolve the catenary problem and restore normal service on the LGV North line. The term "traffic gradually resumes" suggests that repairs are being undertaken on the electrical system, with the aim of restoring electrical supply to normal conditions to ensure safe and reliable train operation.
Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for further developments.

The power outage not only affected SNCF TGV traffic but also disrupted Eurostar finance by causing cancellations and delays in the transportation of passengers, potentially leading to revenue losses.
Industries relying on transportation, such as imports and exports, may also experience issues due to the delay in goods being shipped via the LGV North line, potentially impacting businesses that depend on timely deliveries.
