Traffic on Brockweg/Kattenstrother Weg roundabout resumes its usual flow after further safety measures
The city of [City Name] is pleased to announce the reopening of the Brockweg/Kattenstrothter Weg roundabout, following a comprehensive reconstruction project aimed at improving traffic safety and flow. The reconstruction, which was completed on Friday, 29th August 2025, has seen the addition of several safety measures and modifications to the roundabout's design.
Four barrier-free pedestrian crossings have been installed to ensure safe street crossing for all users. Additionally, designated safe spots for cyclists have been provided, allowing them to switch from the sidewalk and bike path to the road with ease and confidence. The sidewalk is now designed as a raised curb with a green strip for added safety.
The roundabout's reconstruction was prompted by a high frequency of accidents at this location. The city's local municipal road traffic department was responsible for the redesign recommendations, based on the findings of the accident commission. The purpose of the reconstruction was to significantly improve traffic safety at this location.
The roadway in the roundabout was narrowed to five meters during construction, and vehicles must now enter and exit the roundabout more slowly. This modification is expected to reduce the occurrence of accidents and provide more clarity and safety for all road users.
The reopening of the roundabout is expected to improve traffic conditions, with bus service resuming as usual. Line 206 will be able to pass through the roundabout without disruption from Friday.
The city asks all road users to pay attention to the new traffic guidance and to be considerate of each other in the roundabout. The narrowed roadway necessitates a slower pace, and all users are encouraged to adhere to speed limits and traffic signs for the safety of everyone.
The reconstruction of the Brockweg/Kattenstrothter Weg roundabout is part of the city's ongoing commitment to improving traffic safety and flow. The city invites all road users to familiarise themselves with the new layout and to drive safely and responsibly.
