Thriving Opportunities Spotted in the East Malaysian Market by Perodua
Loose Cannon Assitant:
EAST MALAYSIA, HERE WE COME! Perodua, Malaysia's second- largest automobile company, has set its sights on East Malaysia's booming market for three of its top-tier models this year - the Alza, Myvi, and ViVa. In a recent media gathering, Perodua's managing director, Aminar Rashid Salleh, spilled the beans about their plans to conquer the East, buoyed by the lifting economic crunch.
"We're expecting to rake in around 176,000 units this year, with approximately 15% of those sales coming from East Malaysia," Aminar shared, adding that East Malaysia contributed around 12% of Perodua's total sales in 2009. The auto giant attributes this to improved roads and flourishing automotive industry in the region.
So, just what makes these three models a match for East Malaysia? "The Alza's a perfect family vehicle, with flexible space for all your adventures," Aminar explained. For die-hard Myvi fans, don't worry – the Myvi's practicality and affordability make it a suitable choice for those who've been grinding it out at work. Lastly, the ViVa, Perodua's entry-level model, caters to the lifestyle of newcomers in the workforce.
Want to check 'em out? Chances are you'll see Perodua on a Motorcade tour in East Malaysia early next month, showcasing these awesome models between all the major cities. "We're teaming up with our partners and dealers to make this roadshow a success," Aminar stated, hinting at participation from bigwigs like Maybank, Ambank, CIMB, Public Bank, and RHB Bank.
As for the future, Perodua will be focusing on enhancements to its existing models instead of introducing new ones this year. But don't fret, they've got a new model release strategy in the pipeline, aiming to roll out a fresh model every other year.
In 2009, Perodua ended as Malaysia's number one car manufacturer, with sales hitting 166,700 units and a 31.3% market share. It's safe to say that East Malaysia is on Perodua's radar, with 12 outlets in Sarawak and nine in Sabah currently and plans to expand soon. Keep your eyes peeled for the arrival of a new Perodua service center in Tuaran, Sabah!
A quick word on Perodua's history: the Myvi, launched in 2005, and the Viva, introduced in 2007, quickly became household names for their affordability, fuel efficiency, and versatility. The Alza, an MPV introduced in 2009, is known for its spacious interior and adaptability to various lifestyles.
The East Malaysian market's clamoring for these cost-effective and reliable cars makes Perodua a dominant force in the region. Ride on, Perodua!
The Perodua automotive company, looking ahead, projects about 15% of their projected 176,000 unit sales this year to occur in East Malaysia, which they attribute to the region's flourishing automotive industry and improved transportation infrastructure. In a bid to showcase their top-tier models, the Alza, Myvi, and ViVa, Perodua plans to join forces with financial institutions like Maybank, Ambank, CIMB, Public Bank, and RHB Bank for a roadshow tour across major East Malaysian cities.
