The United States women's soccer team is set to welcome Brazil for two friendly games in April 2025, as per the country's soccer authority's announcement on Monday.
The opening game will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 5, 2025, to be followed by the second encounter at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, on April 8.
These games will be held approximately eight months after the teams clashed in the Olympic gold medal match at Paris 2024, with the U.S. emerging victorious 1-0, thereby extending its unprecedented gold medal tally to five.
As per U.S. head coach Emma Hayes, "These are contests against a formidable opponent in two exciting stadiums. The players will enjoy it just as much as the fans do."
The USWNT owns a 33-3-5 record against Brazil.
The inaugural women's professional sporting event at SoFi Stadium, beloved by Los Angeles Chargers and Rams of the NFL fans, will take place with the upcoming friendly. SoFi Stadium further hosts eight matches during the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.
On the contrary, this trip to PayPal Park, host to Bay FC of the NWSL and San Jose Earthquakes of MLS, marks a homecoming for the USWNT to the San Jose-Bay Area, where it has a storied history.
Various current and former players share a distinctive Bay Area connection, and the USWNT played its first-ever match in California, at San Jose's Spartan Stadium, in 1997.
Coach Hayes further stated, "Playing the first-ever women's professional match at SoFi Stadium is a significant honor for this team."
"We eagerly anticipate this California excursion, which has nurtured multiple U.S. Women's National Team players and created numerous unforgettable moments in our history."
The friendlies with Brazil will follow immediately after the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, where the U.S., Australia, Colombia, and Japan will compete.
The SheBelieves Cup, a four-team tournament, will take place from February 20-26, with doubleheaders being staged in Houston, Glendale, Ariz., and San Diego.
The U.S. currently holds the SheBelieves Cup, having defeated Canada on penalties in the 2024 frame.
