📅 May 6, 2025

Of all the airlines on the block, Global Airlines is making waves with their big bet on the iconic Airbus A380. The question on everyone's mind-how could this start-up airline pull off such a bold move?

🛩️ A380-841: The Mature Flyer

The aircraft, registered as 9H-GLOBL, started life under China Southern Airlines and is now over 12 years old. This experienced jet boasts manufacturer serial number (MSN) 120, having completed its maiden voyage on September 25, 2012, from Airbus' production facility in Toulouse, France[1].

In January 2023, it was snapped up by Jet Midwest and re-registered as N123KK. A dance with other carriers followed, until its obliging partner, Global Airlines, swept it off its feet and onto its payroll in January 2024, maintaining the same configuration and engine type[1].

🌍 Where in the World is 9H-GLOBL?

As the latest addition to Global Airlines' fleet, 9H-GLOBL took a grand tour under Hi Fly Malta's wings, ever the nomad. It spent lazy days being babied at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, vibrant months in Dresden, and a few months lounging at Beja[1]. The aircraft recently worked up a sweat with its first international flights to Barcelona in May[2].

👀 What's Next for the 9H-GLOBL-Global Airlines Saga?

The A380's tale hasn't reached its final chapter yet. There's a big dance in the offing, with potential changes looming in Global Airlines' business model[3]. Saudi investors have shown interest in choreographing their moves, possibly transforming Global Airlines into an ACMI operator rather than a traditional airline. The tandem has also been seen jetting across the Atlantic recently, dazzling ticket-holders with a transatlantic flight to New York JFK[4].
