The De Tomaso P72 has reached its production-ready stage, maintaining its captivating aesthetic appeal.
The Italian automaker De Tomaso Automobili is set to begin production on its latest creation, the P72, this year. First unveiled in 2019, this new model promises to deliver a unique driving experience that rises above modern convention.
De Tomaso claims the construction of the P72's chassis represents a 'new benchmark' for structural purity. The carbon-fibre monocoque chassis is formed from a single continuous piece, including the front and rear subframes, ensuring a rigidity and lightness that sets it apart.
Under the hood, the P72 is equipped with a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, developed exclusively for the P72. This heavily reworked Ford Coyote unit, fettled by Roush, produces a powerful 522kW and 819Nm. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, providing a direct and engaging driving experience.
The interior of the P72 is a testament to craftsmanship and simplicity. It features hand-stitched white leather, exposed carbon fibre, and rose gold-finished aluminium gauges, creating a luxurious yet understated ambience.
