The A42 Staying Shutdown for Extended Period
Rerouted Rides in Oberhausen:
Navigating Oberhausen's roads and motorways just got a bit more interesting! Here's a breakdown of the new twists and turns you'll encounter during your drive:
Major Road and Motorway Changes
- A42 Motorway: The A42 (Emscherschnellweg) will still run east-west through Oberhausen, serving cities like Gelsenkirchen, Bottrop, and Duisburg. However, to reach Essen, you'll now be routed via Essener Straße towards Osterfeld and the A42 via the Neue-Mitte on-ramp.
- Mülheimer Straße, Duisburger Straße, Lindnerstraße: These streets will be your primary access points to central Oberhausen, as well as the newly developed Neue Mitte area and the nearby stadium. Traffic on these roads includes both local traffic and access to business and shopping districts.
Detours and New Routes
- Duisburger Straße to Essener Straße: Vehicles coming from Mülheimer Straße and Duisburger Straße will be redirected via Essener Straße towards Osterfeld and then merged onto the A42 via the Neue-Mitte on-ramp.
- Stadium to A42: If you're traveling from the stadium, you'll be diverted onto the Konrad-Adenauer-Allee via Lindnerstraße and sent back onto the A42 towards Duisburg. Take the OB-Buschhausen exit and then merge back onto the A42 in the direction of Essen underneath the BAB bridge.
- OB-Buschhausen on-ramp: To avoid the traffic on Lindnerstraße, the city of Oberhausen recommends using the OB-Buschhausen on-ramp on Buschhausener Straße in the direction of Essen.
Keep in mind that these changes are designed to alleviate congestion and ensure a smoother ride for everyone. Happy driving, and don't forget to leave plenty of time for your journey!
In the new transportation setup of Oberhausen, the renovated Mülheimer Straße, Duisburger Straße, and Lindnerstraße will now serve as primary access points to central Oberhausen, the Neue Mitte area, and the stadium, catering to both local traffic and business and shopping districts. To reach Essen from the A42 Motorway, drivers will be directed via Essener Straße towards Osterfeld and the A42 via the Neue-Mitte on-ramp, which also encompasses the finance and public-transit industries as key factors in the city's development plan.
