Tesla Appoints Jack Hartung to Board of Directors
Tesla, the leading electric vehicle company, has announced the appointment of Jack Hartung to its Board of Directors, effective from June 1, 2025. The filing of Hartung's appointment was made with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday.
Hartung, a seasoned corporate leader with nearly 40 years of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge to Tesla's boardroom. He served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Chipotle Mexican Grill for 22 years and, starting October 1, 2024, transitioned to the role of President and Chief Strategy Officer at Chipotle.
During his tenure at Chipotle, Hartung played a significant role in the company's expansion to over 3,700 locations globally. Before joining Chipotle, he held senior financial positions at McDonald's.
Tesla shares responded positively to the news, rising 1% in Friday morning trading. The filing states that Hartung was appointed to serve on Tesla's Board of Directors and Audit Committee.
Hartung serves on the boards of Portillo's, The Honest Company, and ZocDoc, in addition to his new role at Tesla. Interestingly, his son-in-law works at Tesla as a Service Technician.
In alignment with the practices of other Tesla directors, Hartung has agreed to waive both cash and equity compensation for his board role at Tesla. This decision is expected to further strengthen Tesla's commitment to its shareholders.
As Hartung steps down from his executive role at Chipotle, he will remain in a senior advisory position. With his extensive financial and operational experience, Hartung is poised to make a significant impact on Tesla's future growth and success.
