Telecommunications Company Globe Telecom Maintains 10-Year Run on FTSE4Good Index

Globe Telecom Leads the Way in Sustainability Efforts

Globe Telecom Inc., a participant in the UN Global Compact, has been making significant strides in sustainability, focusing on renewable energy and emissions reduction. This commitment has earned the company a place in the FTSE4Good Index Series for ten consecutive years.

The Filipino telecom giant aims to power over 3,000 cell sites in Metro Manila and Calabarzon entirely with renewable energy by 2028. This ambitious plan is expected to eliminate approximately 5.5 million kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions annually and utilize about 80 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year.

This shift towards renewable energy is supported by Globe's partnership with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions and the adoption of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s Retail Aggregation Program. As a result, Globe became the first telecom in the Philippines to implement this scheme.

By May 2025, Globe had transitioned 33 high-energy utilization facilities to renewable power, increasing its renewable electricity share from 14% in 2021 to 24% in 2024. The company's efforts also extend to off-grid solar-powered sites that support biodiversity, such as protecting green sea turtle nesting sites.

Globe's sustainability goals are validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), including net-zero emissions targets for 2050. These targets are integrated into corporate governance with board-level oversight and employee metrics linked to sustainability performance.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are deeply embedded across Globe's organization. Ten percent of Globe's balanced scorecard is dedicated to ESG goals, and the appointment of a Chief Sustainability Officer and alignment with global sustainability and corporate governance principles have accelerated the advancement of sustainability in Globe.

The FTSE4Good Index evaluates companies worldwide on ESG criteria, and Globe's continued inclusion reflects its evolving maturity from regulatory compliance to a data-driven sustainability strategy aligned with long-term responsible growth. This recognition also places Globe among 14 Philippine companies committed to sustainability leadership, further enhancing investor trust and positioning Globe as an ESG-conscious investment.

Globe fosters an inclusive workplace and engages communities to deliver positive societal impact. The company's sustainability journey has progressed from early compliance efforts to a strategic pursuit, rooted in its Purpose of creating a Globe of Good.

Carl Cruz, Globe's President and CEO, stated that sustainability is a long-term commitment for the company. Globe upholds good corporate governance, and its integrated report, published annually, reflects transparency and is aligned with global sustainability frameworks.
