Taxi operator penalized 16,100 tenge for conveying unidentified travelers from Burabay to Astana.

In the Akmola region, authorities are stepping up their game against unregistered taxi drivers who flout the rules by failing to notify authorities of their entrepreneurial activities. According to regional police reports, these drivers risk hefty fines for their actions.

The ongoing operation "Safe Road" in Akmola has traffic rule violations high on the agenda, with a special focus on combating illegal passenger transport.

Recent incidents include the apprehension of a Toyota Alphard driver who ferried passengers from Burabay to Astana for 16,000 tenge, unaware they were unfamiliar with him. Another driver, transporting three passengers from Astana to Petropavlovsk for 10,000 tenge each, was also caught on the 313th kilometer of the Astana-Petropavlovsk highway. Despite earning money as a taxi driver, he had neglected to inform the relevant authorities about his entrepreneurial activities, a clear violation of the law.

These drivers were charged under Article 463 of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Code of Administrative Offenses. So far, 39 illegal taxi drivers have been brought to justice under this action.

In the past, unregistered taxi drivers have faced the consequences. A resident of the Zhambyl region was fined for carrying out transportation activities without registering as an individual entrepreneur. ANother offender, operating without the necessary registration in Atyrau, was also penalized.

While this crackdown on illegal taxi drivers is happening in Akmola, it's essential to remember that the legal framework for unregistered entrepreneurial activities applies nationwide in Kazakhstan. Taxi drivers must register as individual entrepreneurs or legal entities to legally carry passengers, and failure to do so can result in penalties, including administrative fines, confiscation of income, and even vehicle impoundment.
