Taxi driver in Greece clocks an astonishing 4.6 million kilometers on the road, achieving a remarkable feat in 1976.
In a remarkable feat of endurance, Greek taxi driver Gregorios Sachinidis has driven his 1976 Mercedes 240D over 4.6 million kilometers[1]. This distance is equivalent to 114 circumnavigations of the Earth.
After a lifetime of service, Sachinidis' faithful 240D will now take its place in the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart. The car's engine was replaced four times during its use by Sachinidis.
As a reward for his incredible mileage, Sachinidis will receive a new C-Class from Mercedes-Benz. However, to receive his new car, he had to part with his beloved 240D.
Meanwhile, the roads of Kazakhstan are seeing an increase in Chinese cars[2]. For those interested in learning more about Chinese car brands, brands, and manufacturers, a special project titled "universe of Chinese cars" is available.
Sachinidis purchased the Mercedes in Germany in 1981 and drove it to Thessaloniki. Despite the change, his dedication to the brand remained unwavering, as he clocked up an impressive 4.6 million kilometers in the vehicle.
