Taxi Boss Urges More German Cities to Adopt Rental Car Minimum Prices
Michael Oppermann, head of the Federal Association of Taxi and Rental Car, has urged more German cities to adopt minimum prices for car rental. He praised initiatives in Heidelberg and Essen, and called upon Karlsruhe, Hamburg, and Stuttgart to follow suit. This move aims to control price pressure and ensure fair tariffs between taxi and rental car services.
Oppermann believes that minimum prices will help limit excessive competition, which can lead to poor service quality and consumer exploitation. He hailed Essen's recent introduction of such prices as a significant step in the right direction. The Federal Association anticipates that other cities will soon adopt similar regulations, following the examples set by Essen and Heidelberg.
Oppermann's call comes amidst growing concerns about the impact of unregulated mobility services on local economies and consumers. Minimum prices, he argues, will help municipalities maintain a balance between competition and consumer protection.
Michael Oppermann has urged cities like Karlsruhe, Hamburg, and Stuttgart to introduce minimum prices for car rental. This move, already implemented in Heidelberg and Essen, aims to control price pressure and ensure fair tariffs in the mobility sector. The Federal Association expects more cities to adopt this regulation in the near future.
