Swiss Choice Holding to Establish Sturgeon Farm on Caspian Sea Coast

ASTANA — Swiss Choice Holding has announced plans to invest in a fish farm project on the Caspian Sea coast, aiming to produce 100 to 600 tons of sturgeon and 100 tons of caviar annually. This was revealed during a meeting with Mangystau Region Governor Nurdaulet Kilybai on February 12.

The projected facility, which carries an estimated cost of 5.7 billion tenge (US$11.3 million), is scheduled to break ground in the first quarter of 2025, with operations slated to commence in 2026. Initially, the farm will produce 100 tons of fish. The regional administration has allotted 56 hectares in the Tupkaragan District for the project.

Upon construction, the farm is expected to create approximately 30 new jobs. The company aims to cater to both the domestic market and international export markets.

The Caspian Sea, a significant water body shared by several nations such as Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, may pose unique environmental and regulatory challenges to large-scale fish farming operations. However, further information regarding the project's compliance with sustainability, environmental impact, and local and international laws was not immediately available.

The precise details on the production capacity, timeline, and other aspects of the Swiss Choice Holding fish farm project remain to be seen.

The Swiss Choice Holding's fish farm project, expected to commence operations in 2026, also involves investing in real-estate by allotting 56 hectares in the Tupkaragan District for the project. With the anticipated production capacity of 100 to 600 tons of sturgeon and 100 tons of caviar annually, this business venture could potentially create a significant impact in both the domestic and international investing markets.
