German Bundestag Supports THW with New Equipment and Funding

The Technical Relief Agency (THW) in several regions of Germany is receiving new equipment and funding, as announced by Dr. Christos Pantazis, a member of the German Bundestag from Braunschweig.

In a press release, Dr. Pantazis revealed that the THW in Braunschweig will receive new handheld radios, as part of a potential distribution of 4,000 new devices to the THW, with 48 units allocated for the region of Braunschweig. The total cost of these new radios is approximately 32,600 euros.

In addition, the THW local groups in Goslar and Clausthal-Zellerfeld are also set to receive a new trailer. While the exact value of the trailer is not specified, it is reported to cost around 36,000 euros when combined with the new handheld radios for the THW in the Goslar region.

The support for the THW in these regions, however, does not include any protective or optimal equipment mentioned by Dr. Pantazis. Instead, the purchases made for the Goslar region were made directly by the local associations. Similarly, the THW local association in Braunschweig is also receiving new service uniforms worth around 3,350 euros in total.

The Committee on the Budget of the German Bundestag has decided on a comprehensive strengthening of the THW, with the current coalition in Berlin consistently continuing its support for the THW.

Frauke Heiligenstadt, an SPD member of the German Bundestag, also reported support for parts of the district of Goslar. However, the provided search results do not specify who will hand over the new vehicles to the THW local chapters in Goslar and Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

Dr. Pantazis emphasized the importance of properly equipping THW volunteers with protective and optimal equipment. He highlighted that the THW plays a crucial role in providing assistance during emergencies and natural disasters, and ensuring they have the right equipment is essential for their safety and efficiency.

This support for the THW comes at a time when the agency is increasingly being called upon to provide aid in various parts of Germany. The new equipment and funding are expected to greatly enhance the THW's ability to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters, ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected.
