Strike in Delivery Sector by ver.di NRW against Deutsche Post AG persists on Thursday

In North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), postal workers are continuing their strikes today, marking the second day of action organized by the United Services Trade Union (ver.di NRW). The strikes, which are affecting employees in delivery, are causing disruptions and delays in the delivery of parcels and letters.

Thomas Großstück, head of the postal services, freight, and logistics department in NRW, has explained the situation, stating that employees believe they know how to relieve the workload and make the job more attractive, and what fair pay means. Ver.di is demanding a linear 7% wage increase for employees, trainees, and dual students with a 12-month contract, as well as additional vacation days.

The strikes are not only affecting the initial branches but are also spreading to other locations within already struck branches. Employers are being urged to listen carefully to the employees' demands, with ver.di seeking an additional 3 days of vacation for employees and trainees, and an extra vacation day for ver.di members.

The third round of negotiations between ver.di and the employers is scheduled for February 12/13, 2025. However, without specific updated information from recent sources, the precise current status or the exact demands of ver.di in this particular dispute are not known.

Delays in delivery are expected today due to the ongoing strikes. It is hoped that both parties can come to a resolution that is fair and addresses the concerns of the postal workers. As this story develops, further updates will be provided.

The ongoing strikes by postal workers, led by ver.di NRW, are causing disruptions in multiple sectors of the industry, including finance and business, due to delays in the delivery of parcels and letters. Ver.di is pressing for a linear 7% wage increase, additional vacation days, and other benefits, aiming to reduce workload and make the job more appealing within the finance, business, and postal services sector.
