Streamlined Journeys: Optimized Routes for Time and Convenience

Düsseldorf, a city committed to promoting climate-friendly mobility, has recently undertaken significant improvements in its cycling infrastructure and public transport facilities as part of its mobility turnaround initiative.

One of the key developments is the addition of **additional bicycle parking facilities** equipped with modern electronics and smart access logic, ensuring enhanced usability and security for cyclists. The city is also introducing a **Bike-&-Ride facility** that integrates cycling with public transport, allowing commuters to park their bicycles conveniently and continue their journey via bus or train.

The redesigned **bus stops** are intended to improve passenger comfort and accessibility, contributing to a more efficient and attractive public transport system. These stops will feature covered, transparent waiting halls, digital display boards, and are designed to be barrier-free, catering to passengers with mobility impairments.

The city is also planting green spaces at the redesigned Aachener Platz, aiming to create a greener and more pleasant environment for commuters.

The Rheinbahn will establish 18 bicycle parking facilities for 36 bicycles within the next year. A "Bike-&-Ride" facility operated by the Rheinbahn will provide secure and weather-protected storage for 20 bicycles.

Work on the bus stops is almost complete, but there may be delays in the installation of new features due to global material shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, a 24/7 connection guarantee is in place at the Aachener Platz junction for passengers transferring between bus lines 723 and 726.

The Rheinbahn is also contributing to a greener appearance by extending the grassed area. Additionally, the organisation aims to improve cycling infrastructure, with plans to create a more seamless and eco-friendly transport experience.

Düsseldorf hosts bike-sharing services such as Bolt and Mobike (introduced in 2018, although Mobike's parent company filed for insolvency in 2020), enhancing last-mile connectivity for residents and visitors.

These improvements support Düsseldorf’s broader strategy to advance sustainable urban mobility by encouraging cycling and public transport use as alternatives to car travel.
