New Nissan Magnite Facelift Set to Boost Presence in India's SUV Market

The automotive industry in India is abuzz with excitement as Nissan prepares to unveil its facelifted Magnite SUV. This updated model is expected to significantly strengthen Nissan's position in the high-volume SUV segment, taking on formidable competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and the incoming new-gen Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.

The facelifted Magnite boasts a more premium and contemporary design, with a larger front grille and Bi-LED headlamps for enhanced visibility. The rear end features clean and sculpted lines on the tailgate, a number plate in the middle, a spoiler, and rectangular tail lamps. The vehicle also comes equipped with functional roof rails rated to carry 50 kg (110 lbs), adding utility beyond aesthetics.

Inside, the facelift offers multiple interior colour options, with top variants showcasing bright orange leatherette dash tops and seat covers featuring heat-reflective treatment—beneficial for hot climates. The interior quality is notably good for this segment, with a high-quality digital screen that displays tire pressure and a bar-style temperature gauge.

A special edition, the 2025 Nissan Magnite Black Edition (Kuro Edition), has been announced. This model features a comprehensive blacked-out exterior treatment, including a black grille, blacked-out skid plates, roof rails, alloy wheels with red accents, red brake calipers, smoked headlamps, and blacked-out door handles and window trims. The interior follows the all-black theme with contrast stitching and gloss black finishes on key trim areas.

The Black Edition mirrors the top Tekna Plus trim and includes features such as 6 airbags, a 360-degree surround view monitor, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless smartphone charging pad, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start/stop, rear AC vents, and a front center armrest.

At launch, the new Nissan SUV will only offer petrol engines, with potential for additional configurations like a petrol-hybrid variant within a year of launch. The full feature list, including advanced driver assistance systems, will likely be revealed closer to the launch.

While the interior features and equipment list are yet to be fully revealed, it is expected to share its cabin architecture and equipment list with the India-bound Renault Duster. The new Nissan SUV will be a three-row version of the existing model.

The facelifted Magnite is scheduled to reach showrooms by mid-2026. With its more premium styling cues, improved lighting, a more upscale and climate-adapted interior, and a special blacked-out edition with high-end features and cosmetic enhancements, the facelifted Magnite promises to be a formidable contender in India's competitive SUV market.
