Spain's Regulated Gas Tariff to Rise 12-13.8% from October 1
The regulated natural gas tariff in Spain is set to change significantly as of October 1. The cost of base gas has decreased by 6.5%, but the last resort rate (LRR) for neighborhoods will increase between 12% and 20.1%. This will lead to a 12% to 13.8% increase in the average annual bill for consumers on the regulated tariff.
The regulated tariff is reviewed quarterly, with the next review taking place on October 1. Any consumer connected to natural gas networks with specific pressure and consumption limits can access this tariff. The search results do not specify which organizations or individuals can use it in residential neighborhoods.
The cost of base gas has dropped by 6.5% due to a fall in the Brent barrel price and a strengthening euro. However, the variable term of the neighborhood tariff will increase between 12% and 20.1% for different TUR types. The cost of seasonal gas is now 8.6% lower than the current tariff. The regulated tariff is updated when the cost of the raw material varies by more than 2% or new fees come into effect. The value of the regulated natural gas tariff is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
In summary, while the cost of base gas has decreased, the overall impact on consumers' annual bills will be an increase due to the rise in the last resort rate. The regulated natural gas tariff will be reviewed again in January 2023.
