Spain's Income Gap: Aigües Leads at €60,883, Venta del Moro Lags at €17,861
A recent report reveals stark income disparities among municipalities in Spain. Pozuelo de Alarcón leads with an average gross income of €88,011, while Venta del Moro, Valencia, is the poorest in the Valencian Community, at €17,861.
Aigües, Alicante, has seen a significant surge in average gross income, nearly doubling to €60,883 in the last year, making it the richest municipality in Spain. This is ahead of several cities in Madrid and Barcelona, including the provincial capitals of the Valencian Community: Alicante (€30,218), Castellón de La Plana (€30,269), and Valencia (€34,355).
Contrasting with Aigües, Torrevieja has one of the lowest average gross incomes among cities with greater population weight, at €22,106. Elche's average stands at €25,208. The Basque Country and Navarre are excluded due to their unique fiscal regimes.
The report underscores the wide income gap between municipalities in Spain. While Aigües boasts the highest average gross income, smaller towns like Venta del Moro and Torrevieja lag behind. Further analysis is needed to understand the wealth and poverty dynamics within the Valencian Community specifically.
