SoundPatrol, a research lab co-founded by Michael Ovitz and Stanford Adjunct professor Walter De Brouwer, has announced a significant collaboration with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Sony Music. The aim is to protect artists from copyright infringement by AI music generators using a groundbreaking technology called Neural Fingerprinting.

SoundPatrol's patent-pending 'forensic AI model for audio-video fingerprinting' is set to revolutionize the way original human-created music is identified in AI-generated content. This advanced tool, a significant improvement over traditional audio fingerprinting, captures semantic relationships to identify covers, remixes, and generative-AI derivatives.

The lab, which originated at Stanford University with leading AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity academics, will develop tools to help third-party platforms prevent copyright violations. This ensures fair compensation for artists, a key priority for both Michael Ovitz, SoundPatrol's Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, and Walter De Brouwer, SoundPatrol's Co-Founder and CEO. They emphasize the importance of maintaining artists' control, authenticity, and monetization of their intellectual property in the generative AI era.

The collaboration with UMG and Sony Music is a testament to the industry's commitment to protecting artists' rights. Sir Lucian Grainge, UMG's Chairman and CEO, and Dennis Kooker, President, Global Digital Business, Sony Music, both support the initiative, aiming to safeguard artists' creative integrity while exploring AI's innovative potential.

SoundPatrol, in collaboration with UMG and Sony Music, is set to protect artists from AI music generators' copyright infringement using its advanced Neural Fingerprinting technology. This move not only ensures fair compensation for artists but also maintains their control and authenticity in the generative AI era.
