Significant Diamond Exploration Project Launches in Yakutia, Russia

A substantial diamond exploration project is set to initiate in Yakutia, Russia, subsequent to the signing of a state contract. The project, budgeted at 729.8 million rubles from the federal budget, will span an expansive area of 2,755 km2 across the Hangalassky, Amginsky, and Megino-Kangalassky districts. The work is anticipated to be concluded by the end of 2026, divided into six stages.

The Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Natural Resources Management Department is currently accepting bids for this project until March 1. The primary objective is to localize 'kitchen' range kimberlite pipes and identify diamond-bearing kimberlite bodies within the central part of the Mendelya-Barylakhsky area. Additionally, the project aims to estimate category R2 diamond reserves and provide recommendations for future exploration.

As of now, no specific company has been announced as the winner of the contract for diamond mining in the targeted districts. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their bids before the deadline.

This extensive diamond exploration project, once completed, is expected to provide valuable insights into the diamond reserves of the Mendelya-Barylakhsky region in Yakutia. The findings will guide future exploration and mining activities, potentially boosting the region's diamond industry.
