Sephora appoints Artemis Patrick as the impending CEO for the North American division
Feedback:
- Artemis Patrick, a Sephora veteran of 17 years, is stepping up as the new CEO of Sephora North America next year, replacing Jean-André Rougeot. Currently, Patrick serves as the global chief merchandising officer, a role she'll transition from on October 2. During the interim, she'll take on the role of President of Sephora North America, reporting to Rougeot until his retirement. Afterward, Patrick will report directly to Sephora CEO Guillaume Motte.
- Concurrently, Senior Vice President of Global Merchandising Priya Venkatesh gets promoted to global chief merchandising officer, starting on the same date. Venkatesh will be a vital member of the senior leadership team, reporting to Motte.
- This change in leadership marks a fresh era for Sephora, with Motte only joining as CEO in January, following the swift departure of former Starbucks exec Martin Brok. With Patrick's transition and Venkatesh's promotion, Sephora is gearing up for a new chapter under strong, experienced leadership.
- During the months-long transition, Patrick will gradually assume control of stores, e-commerce, marketing, tech, and supply chain. By January, she'll lead the creation of Sephora's 2025 to 2027 strategy and oversee all aspects of the North America business.
- Motte attributes Patrick's successes at Sephora to the launch of the Sephora at Kohl's partnership, leading the buildout of categories like inclusive foundation and clean beauty, and spearheading Sephora as the first retailer to sign the 15 Percent Pledge.
- Rougeot, who joined Sephora in 2019, served as CEO of Benefit Cosmetics for 12 years before taking on the Sephora North America role. Motte praised Rougeot's impact on the Americas business, highlighting his inspirational leadership, retail expertise, and purpose-driven vision that has made the region stronger than ever, delivering record sales and market share growth.
- Patrick's and Venkatesh's roles underscore Sephora's commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence in the beauty industry, continuing the legacy both leaders have helped establish during their tenure at the company.
- Artemis Patrick's ascent to the role of Sephora North America CEO next year demonstrates her significant leadership potential in the business and finance sectors, particularly within the beauty industry.
- As the new global chief merchandising officer, Priya Venkatesh will bring her expertise to the senior leadership team, playing a pivotal role in shaping Sephora's careers and strategic plans moving forward.
- With the promotion of Artemis Patrick to a higher role and Priya Venkatesh's new position, Sephora is poised for growth and innovation in the beauty business, leveraging their combined experience and impact on the industry.
