San Antonio Issues 2025 Property Tax Bills, Offers Shutdown Relief
San Antonio has sent out the second-half 2025 property tax bills to owners and mortgage companies, with a payment deadline of November 17. The city offers assistance for those directly affected by the federal government shutdown.
Property owners who didn't receive a bill should contact the Treasury Division at [email protected] or 703-746-4800, Option 2. The 2025 real estate tax rate stands at $1.135 per $100 of assessed value.
Residents aged 65 or older, or those who are permanently and totally disabled, may qualify for tax relief. The city also provides a payment plan assistance for those impacted by the federal shutdown. Bills include the second-half refuse fee of $250 per can and stormwater utility fee of $170.15 per equivalent residential unit. Tax balances can be checked online 24/7.
Payments can be made online, by mail, or via the 24-hour drop box at City Hall. Late payments incur penalties starting at 5% by December 2, increasing to 10% or $10 - whichever is greater - if paid on or after December 3. Interest accrues at 10% annually for the first year and 5% thereafter, starting November 18.
