Sales of goods and services in retail sector show increase in figures
In the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam's retail and service sectors have shown robust growth, according to the National Statistics Office. The total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue at current prices was estimated at VND 3.99 quadrillion (approximately $22 billion), marking a 9.3% year-on-year growth. Excluding price factors, the real increase was 7.1% over the same period.
Breaking down specific sectors within retail sales for this period:
- Food and foodstuffs revenue rose by 9.9% year-on-year.
- Garments increased by 6.4%.
- Household appliances, tools, and equipment grew by 7.1%.
- Educational and cultural products also increased by 9.4%.
In travel and related services, accommodation and catering services expanded by 16.3%, while travel services increased by 12.6% year-on-year in July 2025.
For July 2025 specifically, retail sales grew by 9.2% year-on-year, slightly accelerating from 8.3% in June 2025.
Director of the National Statistics Office, Nguyễn Thị Hương, forecasts a strong recovery momentum in the trade and service sectors for the coming months. Favorable factors such as policies supporting domestic consumption, tourism stimulus measures, effective inflation control, and improvements in people's incomes are expected to create a foundation for stable and sustainable growth.
In addition, several localities, including Đà Nẵng, Hải Phòng, HCM City, Hà Nội, and Cần Thơ, recorded high year-on-year growth in retail sales. The revenue from other services was estimated at VNĐ409.1 trillion, up 12.4% year-on-year. Garment revenue increased by 7.9% year-on-year in the last month. Retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the last month were estimated at VNĐ576.4 trillion (US$21.98 billion), up 1.1% month-on-month and 9.2% year-on-year.
