Russia's Minister of Industry commends Sakuts on the inauguration of their shipyard.
On a jubilant Friday, April 25, the groundbreaking ceremony for the hull production facility at the Zhatai Shipyard in Yakutia took place. Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Anton Siluanov, celebrated this momentous step in the shipbuilding industry with the residents of the region.
Hailing this development as the founding stone of shipbuilding, Siluanov emphasized the shipyard's national significance. "This yard's project not only boosts Russia's Arctic Zone's economy but also influences the Northern Sea Route. Developing the Lena River basin's transportation infrastructure is essential for unbroken cargo delivery to Yakutia's Arctic regions," he stated.
The six-year collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, regional authorities, and businesses has culminated in the construction of this massive facility. The minister expressed gratitude to Aisen Nikolaev, the Cabinet of Ministers of Yakutia, and the dedicated staff for their hard work on this venture.
Construction of the shipyard commenced in 2019, and its completion is slated for the fourth quarter of this year. The facility aims to produce up to ten ships annually and provides employment opportunities for over 400 people. Already, a residential complex for specialists has been established, and a hostel is currently under construction.
Last year, the ownership of the enterprise's shares was transferre to republican control with Russian President Vladimir Putin's approval.
