New Rivian Service Center Opens in Fresno, Boosting Clean Energy Technology

A new electric vehicle (EV) service center has made its debut in Fresno, California, marking a significant milestone for the Central Valley's clean energy technology sector. The Rivian Service Center, located at the Rivian facility on Selland near Marty in northwest Fresno, is the region's first dedicated EV service facility.

The 16,180-square-foot center offers a wide range of services for Rivian vehicles, including collision repair, maintenance (excluding bodywork), roadside assistance, and a pick-up point for vehicles ordered online. This new service center serves the Central Valley area, extending from Turlock to Bakersfield and the central coast.

The opening of the Rivian Service Center is a welcome development for the region, as it addresses the growing demand for EV maintenance that previously relied on distant centers in San Jose or Burbank. By bringing these services closer to home, the center contributes to strengthening the local clean energy ecosystem.

The center is expected to create approximately 15 direct jobs initially, with projections of around 100 jobs generated throughout the broader support and supply chain. Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer highlighted the center's role in expanding clean energy technology and sustainable transportation infrastructure across the region, emphasizing its importance in fostering a clean-energy economy.

The Rivian Service Center in Fresno is the only one in the Central Valley, making it a strategic addition to the region. Local economic development efforts helped accelerate and incentivize Rivian’s entry into Fresno, underscoring a strategic push to attract clean tech industries.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new service center took place on Friday morning, with Mayor Dyer in attendance. The center's operational status is now confirmed, ready to serve the growing number of Rivian vehicle owners in the region. The service center's opening represents not only a step forward for the Central Valley's clean energy technology sector but also a promising sign of a sustainable future for transportation in the region.
