Train traffic modifications - Limits imposed on train travel - Restrictions imposed on train travel during railway modernisation efforts
Modernization Underway: Temporary Train Service Disruptions in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt-Höchst
German Railway (DB) has announced that due to modernization works on signaling technology, there will be restrictions in train services between Wiesbaden Central Station and Frankfurt-Höchst this summer. During certain nights and weekends, some train services will be replaced by buses.
To enhance the overall efficiency of the railway service on this route, DB is gradually replacing the existing outdated installations with Electronic Stellwerk Technology (ESTW). The next phase of this process will commence in June, with works on the electronic signal box in Flörsheim, along with module buildings in Hattersheim am Main and the branch point Kostheim. This modernization initiative, slated for completion in 2027, includes the construction of cable trenches and signal foundations.
In an effort to minimize the impact on passengers, DB plans to carry out the works mainly during ongoing operations, where feasible, and during nighttime hours or periods of lesser traffic. However, for specific tasks requiring specialized equipment or track work, restricted access may be needed for a certain period, disrupting train services.
Between Frankfurt-Höchst and Wiesbaden Central Station, a construction closure will be required from June 13 to August 21 each night (21:00 to 5:00) as well as on the first four weekends (June 14/15, June 21/22, June 28/29, and July 5/6). During this period, a replacement bus service will be provided, including an express line that stops at all points.
A second construction phase is planned for August 22 to September 19 between Kostheim and Mainz-Amöneburg, with separate information to be provided by DB at a later date.

The community policy regarding these temporary train service disruptions in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt-Höchst due to modernization works should be accessible on Deutsche Bahn's website. This modernization project, which includes vocational training for railway employees in Electronic Stellwerk Technology (ESTW), aims to upgrade the railway industry's finance, transportation, and signaling technology.
