Sheridan Community Land Trust Seeks to Rezone Property for Potential Commercial Use

The Sheridan Community Land Trust has put forth a rezone request for a property located in the heart of Sheridan, Wyoming. The property, spanning 31.8 acres, is situated on the 900 block of East 5th Street.

Currently, the property is unplatted and falls under the R-1 Residence District. However, the Trust aims to change this, seeking to rezone the land to the B-1 Business District.

The City Planner, Kelly Schroeder, has confirmed that the rezone request is before the City Council. The Planning Commission, at their meeting on Monday night, made a recommendation to the City Council, subject to certain conditions.

The recommendation, if accepted by the City Council, could allow for multi-family residential use and potential future commercial use on the property. The condition for final approval is related to the legal description and exhibit of the rezone request, which must be revised and resubmitted with a stamp of a licensed surveyor.

The rezone request will be presented as an ordinance at the Sheridan City Council's next business meeting on Monday, September 15. The Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the rezone ordinance.
