However, this deadline was extended to October 4 due to a disclosure from the nation's Gambling Commission that it had incorrectly computed a critical problem gambling rate.

The controversy-laden gambling addiction percentage is among the Gambling Commission's stalwart indicators that they utilize to assess the effectiveness of local operators' responsible gambling initiatives. Furthermore, this measure helps the national regulator gauge the riskiness of various verticals for those potential gamblers teetering on the brink of addiction.
A Misstep in the Statistics
The government's consultation, drafted in consultation with the Gambling Commission, reported that the gambling addiction rate for slot players aged 16 to 24 stood at 1.5%, which was significantly higher than the nationwide 0.02% figure for all gambling forms. However, this inflated percentage was later found to pertain only to male gamblers; the overall figure stood at 0.8%, which, interestingly, was 0.2% lower than the 2018 survey findings from the National Health Service.
During this extended timeframe for feedback, the gambling industry also highlighted that the UK's overall gambling addiction rate had plummeted from 0.04% in 2018 to 0.02% in 2021.

Some experts foresee the Labour Party, led by Sir Keir Starmer, potentially storming to victory and, in turn, opting to scrap the sector's planned overhaul in favor of a more laissez-faire approach.
