Oberwiesenthal - November 2024 witnesses the sale of the town's cable car and ski lifts. At a public gathering, the price tag was disclosed for the first time - a hefty 10.4 million euros, the amount vogtland entrepreneur Rainer Glaess (65) is ready to invest.

"It's a deal without conditions. The city is thrilled, as it gets the funds it desired," Glaess spoke to the "Freie Presse".

The 10.4 million euros offer a significant financial boost to the town.

However, the sale wasn't motivated by financial gain, as per Mayor Jens Benedict (38, Bürgerbündnis EINZ).

"The drive comes from building the stairway to heaven." The city council plans to sign the purchase agreement on June 24.
