Soaring Costs Across the Board in Kuban's Economy
Prices of food in Kuban region surge by 15%
Listen up, folks! The cost of living in Kuban's got a hefty increase lately. That's right, your wallet's gonna feel the pinch. According to RBK Krasnodar, food prices have skyrocketed by a whopping 15% over the past year, as reported by the Central Bank.
But hang on a minute, experts say prices linked to seasonality have taken a downward turn. Don't pop the champagne just yet, though - we're still waiting to see if inflation growth has truly reached its peak. Food prices, comparing to 2024, have increased overall by a staggering 14.6%. And if you've been keeping tabs on the numbers since the start of February 2025, you'll notice prices have crept up by an additional 1.3% over the month.
But it ain't just food where your hard-earned cash is vanishing. Services are following suit, with a 12.2% rise in costs compared to the same time last year. Factor in February 2025, and you'll see another 1.4% hike in the price tag. Non-food goods have seen the smallest increase, standing at a 5.1% rise over the year, with a minuscule 0.1% climb since the start of 2025.
Eugene Eberenz, head of the Southern Main Department of the Bank of Russia, shed some light on this trend. Prices for non-food goods are more sensitive, he said, 'cause when prices go up, people tend to shy away from taking out loans and holding off on buying big-ticket items like cars, electronics, or household appliances. This dip in demand helps stanch the tide of rising prices, at least for now.
Good news is, the growth in the cost of goods has come down to 8.9%, which is 3.1% lower than at the end of 2024. And the Central Bank is optimistic that keeping interest rates high can help lower inflation to a more manageable 4% by the end of next year.
In another bit of news, the cash transactions in secondary housing deals have spiked in Kuban, rising to 20%.
Keep an eye on those budgets, folks, because this price surge shows no signs of slowing down! If you want the latest, accurate numbers, be sure to check out the stats from reliable sources like Rosstat (Federal State Statistics Service) or reports focused on the Krasnodar Krai region.
Stay informed and stay vigilant, because things are getting costly out there!
