Oregon Lottery Winners Can Now Stay Anonymous
Oregon's lottery winners can now enjoy their windfall in privacy. House Bill 3115 has changed the state's lottery winner announcement policy, allowing winners to remain anonymous by default.
Previously, all lottery wins were a matter of public record in Oregon. However, the Oregon State Lottery Commission has now approved rules making winners anonymous by default. This change aims to prioritise winner comfort and combat cheating.
Winners in Oregon can now opt for clever monikers and pose with outsized checks without disclosing their names and photos. The first person to claim a lottery prize anonymously after the enactment of House Bill 3115 has not been publicly disclosed. This change also helps fight 'discounters' claiming winnings in other people's names. The Illinois Lottery Corporation has also allowed winners to remain anonymous, with most big-time winners choosing to do so.
With the enactment of House Bill 3115, Oregon's lottery winners can now enjoy their newfound wealth in privacy. The Oregon Lottery now allows anonymity for its winners, providing a much-needed layer of protection and comfort.
