Ontario's Highway 413 Project Kicks Off with Early Works Phase

Ontario's Highway 413 project is underway, with the Early Works phase currently in progress. The project, which aims to enhance infrastructure and reduce congestion, is being conducted in areas previously disturbed to minimize environmental impacts. Doug Ford, re-elected in February 2025 for his third term, continues to oversee the project's development.

The Highway 413 Act, 2024 identifies several Early Works projects along the route. These projects are not only conducted in areas previously disturbed but also in locations earmarked by local municipalities for additional infrastructure improvements. However, the specific municipalities involved are not yet disclosed.

The Early Works phase involves several key projects. Project #1 focuses on embankment construction at the critical 401/407 ETR/413 Interchange. Project #2, located on Highway 10/Hurontario Street, includes resurfacing and underpass construction. Meanwhile, Project #3 is constructing an underpass on Bovaird Drive. These projects lay the foundation for the future construction activities of the Hwy 413 project.
