ONDC Expands Reach, Partners with Google for Digital Commerce Boost
The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has expanded its reach and services. Launched in five cities last April, it's now in a Beta pilot phase in Bengaluru and select Tier-II cities. Google has joined forces with ONDC, unveiling an accelerator program and integrating Google Maps for enhanced order usability.
ONDC's growth sees it now offering a $25,000 iCloud credit grant to program members. It's also working on three key abilities to lower business startup costs: dynamic pricing, inventory management, and delivery cost optimization.
Google's involvement brings several benefits. It's preparing fundamental infrastructure APIs for ONDC members, enabling retail search systems and AI for improved buyer and seller experiences. Google Maps will be unified with ONDC to provide better address descriptors, initially covering 25 Indian cities using landmarks and street names.
The accelerator program, announced by Ambarish Kenghe, Vice President of Google Pay, at a developer conference on June 28, aims to support the growth of India's digital sellers.
With Google's backing, ONDC's reach and capabilities are expanding. The iCloud credit grant, cost-reducing abilities, and improved address features are set to boost digital commerce in India. The accelerator program promises to further support and grow the sector.
