Moeve Set to Transform Huelva's Future with Andalusian Valley of Green Hydrogen
Moeve is poised to commence construction of the Andalusian Valley of Green Hydrogen, awaiting the connection capacity concession's approval. This project, the largest of its kind in Europe, is set to transform Huelva's future in the renewable energy sector.
Huelva's President of the Chamber of Commerce, Daniel Toscano, envisions the city becoming a significant player in renewable energy. Moeve's biorefinery plant in Huelva will produce up to 500,000 tons of HVO and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) annually, demonstrating the company's commitment to Huelva's sustainable development.
The first phase, the Onuba project, involves building a green hydrogen plant with 400MW electrolysis capacity in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva. This project alone is expected to generate around 10,000 jobs, both direct and indirect, during its execution. Moeve's executive, Carlos Barrasa, highlights Andalusia's potential for leading the energy transition.
Moeve aims to start construction of the Andalusian Valley of Green Hydrogen before the end of 2025, beginning in Huelva. Upon completion, this project is expected to contribute to Huelva's position as a European leader in green molecule production, fostering a sustainable future for the region.
