Microsoft and Adobe Patch 100+ Bugs, Fix Active Vulnerabilities
Microsoft and Adobe have released a combined total of 17 security bulletins, addressing over 100 software vulnerabilities. This includes critical patches for Office, Edge, Windows, and Adobe Flash.
Microsoft addressed several issues with its recent patches. MS16-054 patched Office, while MS16-052 covered Microsoft Edge. Other updates included MS16-055 for the Windows graphical subsystem, MS16-057 for Windows Shell, MS16-062 for Windows Kernel drivers, MS16-056 for Windows Journal, MS16-059 for Windows Media Center, and MS16-058 for IIS.
Chrome and Internet Explorer 11/Edge users can expect automatic patches from Google and Microsoft. Notably, Microsoft released MS16-051 for Internet Explorer, fixing a critical RCE vulnerability (CVE-2016-0189) that is currently under attack.
Adobe Reader received a bi-monthly update (APSB16-14) addressing 92 separate CVEs. Adobe Flash was patched (APSB16-15) to fix CVE-2016-4117 and 24 other vulnerabilities. Users are urged to patch Adobe Flash promptly.
While no patch is available for ImageMagick's ImageTragick vulnerability (CVE-2016-3714), a workaround has been published. Users should apply the available patches and follow the workaround to protect against active attacks.
