Matt Bevin's Adopted Son Accuses Him of Abuse, Neglect in Ongoing Legal Battle
An ongoing legal battle has unfolded between former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and his adopted son, Jonah. The 18-year-old has accused his father of abuse and neglect, leading to a protective order hearing where Matt Bevin, acting as his own attorney, cross-examined Jonah.
The case, set to resume in April, has seen Jonah allege abandonment by the Bevins, a Class D felony in Kentucky. He has filed a report with Louisville Metro Police detailing his experiences. The couple's divorce was finalised in March.
Jonah's lawyer, Dawn J. Post, described the hearing as 'emotionally retraumatizing' for Jonah, who was questioned by his father. Despite Jonah's claims of being abandoned at a youth facility in Jamaica, there is no evidence linking him to the Atlantis Leadership Academy or interactions with the Bevins during that period.
The protective order hearing will continue in April, with the Bevins planning to present witnesses. Jonah, represented by Dawn Post, seeks an extension of the emergency protective order. The outcome of this case remains uncertain, with both parties maintaining their stances.
